Have you ever found yourself caught in the cycle of STRESS > WEIGHT GAIN > MORE STRESS?

Summary:
Stress is great! However, we have misplaced it’s application I believe.

That is great news!

Why?

👉🏻 When stress hits, your body’s ‘stress hormone’ cortisol rises. Cortisol tells your body to dump ‘glycogen’ (your muscle and liver’s sugar storage) into your blood stream.

Fantastic, because this is your body’s way to get ready for those common stressful situation, like:
✅ Fighting a mountain lion
✅ Running away from an angry elk
✅ Battling a competing tribe

Right? Oh wait…

Nowadays, ‘mountain lions problems’ are replaced by:
😵‍💫 Annoying e-mails
😵‍💫 A vibrating phone
😵‍💫 Financial concerns

The less obvious difference?
🎢 The 1st group comes – and goes
🎡 The 2nd is more permanent

Let me underline: Stress is GREAT!

It is what kept all of the generations that came before you ALIVE. Let’s pay some respect to that.

However, the way we use it TODAY often ISN’T helpful.
There is 3 main physical reasons:

1️⃣
As you’re body is constantly left in a state of FIGHT/FLIGHT, this liquid energy (‘glycogen’) is coursing through your veins #readyforaction. As there is no need for any insane physical activity – your body stores it as FAT for later use #hibernation #energystorage #youneverknow.

2️⃣
Moreover, this high energy glucose seduces your body to ask for MORE. You’ll be craving more sugary junk food, which then amplifies the problem.

3️⃣
If that wasn’t enough, your digestive tract also takes out much less nutrients, because escaping death was 1st on the backlog (for some reason). Again, a great design decision, however, this leaves you less satiated and craving for actual nutrients.

🤓 Take-aways:
Therefore, I’d like this post to help you understand that stress could be 1 of the (sometimes even THE) MAIN focal points when you’d like to lose weight.

Sure, not buying bags of chips and having a house full of candy are quick wins, but moving this topic higher up the priority list might give you surprising results if you experience a lot of stress.
